Christmas; Lagos CP assures residents of tight security
Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP) Hakeem Odumosu has assured Lagos residents of maximum safety during the forthcoming Christmas and New Year festivals.
Odumosu gave the assurance on Wednesday evening at Airport Hotel lkeja, Lagos, when Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Lagos chapter organised a dinner in his honour.
He said: “Christmas is approaching; large number of people will be coming to Lagos to buy and to sell their goods. We assure everybody that Lagos will be peaceful. They should not be apprehensive of any form of insecurity. We are fully prepared to ensure a peaceful Christmas.”
Odumosu disclosed that the PCRC had been of tremendous support to his command, “in areas of advice, provision of items and other ways that have helped the command to achieve its responsibilities.”
He particularly commented the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba, “for his maximum support for the command, with which we have recorded our success. In addition the governor (Babjide Sanwo-Olu) has also supported the command tremendously in various ways with which we have also achieved success. And you press you have also been good to us.”
On his strategy in recording almost zero crime free Lagos, Odumosu said: “It is not my wife or children who are assisting me to do the work. It is my officers who have been very committed. Again success is based on determination and commitment. These are my reasons for the success of the command.”
Odumosu was accompanied by senior officers of Lagos State police command, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in charge of Administration DCP Bassey Ewa.
