NECO 2021: 878,925 candidates make 5 credits including Maths, English

The National Examination Council (NECO) on Friday released the results of the 2021 Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE) internals with 878,925 candidates, representing 71.64 percent, making five credits including Mathematics and English Language.

While addressing journalists at the Council’s Headquarters in Minna, Niger State, the Registrar, Prof. Dantana Wushishi said out of the 1,233,631 candidates that registered for the examination only 1,209,992 actually sat for the exam.

Prof. Wushishi said that out of the total 1,233,631 candidates that registered for the examination, 687,389 were male and 576,242 female.

He added that the candidates who made five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics are 878,925 representing 71.64% when compared to 2020 of 894,101 representing 73.89% with an decrease of 2.25%.

Prof. Wushishi also disclosed that the number of candidates who made five credits and above irrespective of English Language and Mathematics is 1,226,796 representing 91.04% when compare to the 2020 June/July SSCE figures of 1,112,041 representing 91.91%.

Prof. Wushishi also stated that the registration fee for subsequent examinations will be increased as a result of the exchange rate.

He further disclosed that 20 Supervisors were blacklisted for various offences ranging from poor supervision, aiding and abetting, connivance with candidates to write answers on the chalkboard, compromise and extortion. (New Telegraph)
