I’m tired of paying my late son’s morgue fee — Mother of teenager allegedly killed by Amotekun raises alarm, sends SOS to Oyo Govt
Mrs. Ifeoma Okafor the mother of the late teenager Peter Okafor, who was alleged to have been shot dead by yet to be identified Amotekun operatives in Ibadan sometimes in August has cried out for help from the State Government over what she described as unjust killing of her son.
Mrs. Ifeoma while briefing journalists on her condition aftermath the shooting of her son on Monday lamented over her condition, saying I’m yet to receive any delegations from either the government or anybody over the unjust killing of my son.
Mrs. Ifeoma said she’s very optimistic that her son was unjustly killed by operatives of the Western Security Network code name Amotekun while on an errand to buy food for his Boss on that sad day.
She said, since the demise of my son I have kept paying for his space at the mortuary, since all these days, I have not seen anybody, I’m tired of paying for my son’s mortuary, at least I think the governor should by now send emissaries to come and pay me a visit, you can imagine this is a whole life we are talking about here, this is so sad, I lost a son that was hale and healthy and yet
Also speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. John Odokwo said the death of Peter Okafor still remains a very bitter pill for the entire family and most especially his mother and siblings who have since been left to groan, mourning and lick their wounds all by themselves without any slightest sign of empathy on the part of the government.
Mr. John said further that during the early period of the incident the entire community of residence here in Mokola arose in range and ready to react accordingly which we of course believe would have led to wanton destruction of properties but for our love for the present government under Engr. Seyi Makinde and our duty to the state and nation as law abiding citizens and residents we aware able to quell all anger and prevented a possible crisis that would have followed youths reaction after the unfortunate incident.
“The peace path was toed in the spirit of public peace considering the fact that what has happened has indeed happened and could never be reversed therefore, the way forward should be everybody’s next line of action.”
“The family at the time demanded for justice over gruesome murder of their son.” John said.
Recall that Peter Okafor aged 15 was was reportedly murdered on 18th of August, 2021 by unknown Amotekun corps. The sad incident caused unrest amongst the youths in Mokola community and the State House of Assembly has reacted to the issue by setting up a committee to look over the issue and ordered the committee to paid a condolence visit to Okafor’s family.
