Independence Day: Police restrict vehicular movement around Eagle Square

The FCT police command boss, Sunday Babaji, has banned vehicular movement around Eagle square and its environs to ensure a hitch free Independence Day celebration in Nigeria’s capital city Abuja.

FCT command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh who made the disclosure noted that in view of events lined-up for the 61st Independence Anniversary Celebration on Friday, October 1, 2021, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has emplaced proactive security measures to ensure hitch-free celebrations.

The commissioner of police noted that these measures include the restriction of vehicular movements on roads leading to the Eagle Square where the Independence Anniversary parade and other adjoining programs would hold.

“The CP further noted that in collaboration with other security agencies, there will be intensive confidence boosting patrols, coordinated stop/search operations and other intelligence-based crime fighting efforts around other places of public resorts such as recreational parks, residential areas and major highways amongst others to prevent any untoward situation throughout the period of the celebrations and beyond.”
