Tever Akase, media aide to the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has promised to strengthen the state anti-open grazing law if he succeeds his boss in 2023.

Akase stated this on Wednesday after he tendered his resignation letter to contest the forthcoming governorship election.

He promised to make the law stiffer as one of the ways to ensure the security of the state

According to him, “At about 9 am today, I tendered my resignation letter to my boss in company of my wife and my best man. I am here to tell you that officially, I have resigned to concentrate on my governorship ambition, and God willing, come 2023, I will succeed my boss as Governor.

“Security of the people of the state would be one of our cardinal programs if we come to the office in 2023. We will strengthen the open grazing prohibition and ranches establishment law and even make it stiffer because our people deserve to live. We will do everything to guarantee internal security and the security of our borders,” he said.

The gubernatorial aspirant also said that priority would be given to other sectors and appreciated his boss, Governor Ortom for his infrastructural development in the past six years.

He listed other areas of focus to include, agriculture, job creation, infrastructure, education, health among others, saying his administration would ensure that farming would be taken to a high level.

He also promised to carry the youths, the women and elders along in his administration if and when he becomes governor.
