Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to quickly Intervene and save the party from the stranglehold Senator Ken Nnamani, and imminent collapse.

Sen. Nnamani, a member of the APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) has been accused of hatching a plot to shut out founding members of the party in the state, using a self imposed consensus option at ward and LGA Congresses of the party.

Addressing journalists after a Zoom meeting of the party, Mrs Kate For, the Enugu State APC Publicity Secretary cried out that unless the president wades in before the October 2 State Congresses, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) joiners like Senator Nnamani would hijack the party, even as he offers little or no Electoral value to the APC.

Mrs Offor, in an SOS message to President Buhari lamented that foundation members of the party has been pushed to the sideline by joiners who were in their PDP comfort zone when the party was built.

“Foundation members of APC in the Enugu State has gradually improved the electoral fortunes of our great party from 2015 to 2019 general elections; we need to improve more especially with registration of new members. However, we wish to appeal that the flagrant breach of Article 20 of the APC Constitution by Senator Ken Nnamani’s imposition called consensus be urgently addressed before the October 2, 2021 State Congress.

“Our understanding is that Senator Ken Nnamani and Co’s devious plan is to SHUT OUT APC foundation legacy members in Enugu State.”

The stakeholders also called on the CECPC Chairman Mai Mala Buni to use his deft negotiating and reconciliation skills and resolve the problem in Enugu State, saying ” Buni as a foundation legacy member knows how we toiled, sweated and sacrificed to build the Brand APC. While Nnamani and Co were in PDP’s Comfort Zone. We also need Buni’s deft reconciliation tactics. For Nnamani and Co did not bring anything to the table, neither electoral value, nor people nor money.”

On the newly reconstituted national reconciliation Committee headed by Abdullahi Adamu, former governor of Nasarawa State, the group said while they have no problem with Senator Adamu, the Committee cannot help Enugu State, pointing out that an interested impostor in the person Sullivan Chime is there to do the biding of Sen Nnamani.

Mrs Offor maintained that the APC in Enugu is sticking to the agreement reached during the membership registration and revalidation exercise on the zoning of party positions viz;

“We hereby clarify that all party offices zoned to the East Senatorial District is now zoned to West Senatorial District and all party offices zoned to the West is now zoned to the North Senatorial District and all those zoned to North is now zoned to East Senatorial District.” (Sunday Independent)
