Sit-at-home order not beneficial to South East, Ezeife tells IPOB

Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, former governor of Anambra State, has appealed to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to understand that the sit-at-home order is not beneficial to the South-East region of the country.

Ezeife in a chat with Daily Independent on Monday said that the order is highly condemnable because it is affecting the economy of the region adversely.

He said, “I condemn the sit-at-home order because it is not good for our region and it is not beneficial rather it is destroying our economy. I just hope that those behind the sit-at-home order should listen to the voice of reason and call it off immediately.”

While charging IPOB to re consider its sit-at-home order, the former governor said that if Ndigbo is crying of being punished by the current leadership, why should they add to their problem.

He said, “It is unfortunate that if you say that somebody is punishing you, why should you also begin to punish yourself? I made it very clear in a press conference I held earlier yesterday that it is of no use for us to sit at home. We will only be adding to our problem.”

Meanwhile, Ezeife in a reaction to the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to Imo State on Thursday, said: “The President was reported to have said that he didn’t know that we were serious about wanting to be President of Nigeria.

“Well, he said that he didn’t know that we were serious, for someone whose action has always been directed at pushing Ndigbo out of Nigeria. We are hoping for the best in this country. I am happy about that, may be now that he knows it would be an opportunity for him to view things differently.” (Daily Independent)
