Sowore: Edo Police rescue one out of five kidnapped victims

The Edo State Police Command on Sunday night announced the successful rescue of one of the five victims kidnapped at Isuwa, close to Okada, on Saturday.

The victims were kidnapped on the spot, where Felix Sowore, the younger brother of the convener of ‘Revolution Now’, Omoyele Sowore, was killed on.

The younger Sowore until his death was a student in the Faculty of Pharmacy, Igbinedion University, Okada.

The Edo Police, earlier on Sunday said he was a victim of circumstance, as he drove into the firing line of the kidnappers, who were attacking passengers of a broken-down commercial vehicle.

Announcing the rescue of the victim, the Edo Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Bello Kontongs, said that the rescued victim is a Reverend Sister.

In the WhatsApp message sent to journalists at about 7.35 pm, and titled “Rescue of Kidnapped Victim”, Kontongs added that rescue operations were still going on for the remaining four victims.

“Rescue of a kidnapped victim. Good evening gentlemen/ladies of the press. This is to inform you that one of the five kidnapped victims, Reverend Sister Emmanuella Anyanwu, kidnapped at Isuwa by Morgan Farm on 04/09/2021, has been rescued, unhurt. Rescue ops is still ongoing to ensure all other victims are rescued unhurt.” the message read.

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, it would be recalled, had in a condolence message to the elder Sowore on Saturday, vowed that his administration would work with all security agencies to ensure that the killers of the younger Sowore were brought to book. (Nigerian Tribune)
