An 18-year-old boy, Michael Ikolo, a lady, Success Francis, 26, and five other robbery suspects have been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police, Delta Command, in Sapele and Oghara axis of Delta State.

This was disclosed in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday by the acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe.

He said Ikolo, Francis including James Wisdom alias Young Diamond, age 25, and one Peter Ayodele, aged 22, were arrested at the wee hours of August 28, 2021 while operating at MTN road by Pipeline, Sapele, following a distress call.

He said the District Police Officer (DPO), Sapele, led a crack team in conjunction with vigilantes and arrested the quartet, recovering three cut-to-size single barrels gun with 18 cartridges and a Lexus car with Reg. No. YAB 750 BP.

The other three, Edafe stated, included Choice Macaulay, 26, Endurance Ejokirehie, 27, and Junior Macaulay, 21.

According to him, they were swooped on following a tip-off after they had burgled a house at Old Benin Road, Oghara at about 2:00a.m and made away with phones valued at N400, 000.

DSP Edafe further stated that the Oghara DPO led a team of detectives, with intelligence gathered, to an Indian Hemp joint where three phones, a dummy gun and an iron rod used for the robbery were recovered.

“Suspects confessed to the crime and the victims have identified the stolen phones as theirs.

“On further investigation, it was discovered that one of the suspects, Choice Macaulay, who is the leader of the gang, was arrested before and charged to court, but was later released.

“The suspect led the detectives to their hideout where one locally-made gun and two live cartridges were dug out from the ground where they were buried,” he further disclosed.

Meanwhile, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Ari Muhammed Ali, has, for the umpteenth time, warned criminally-minded individuals to steer clear of the state or repent.

“Under his watch, the police in the command will continue to go after criminals until Delta State is free of criminally-minded people who have nothing to offer than to cause pain and havoc on the good people of the state,” Edafe quoted his boss. (Sunday Tribune)
