Cholera outbreak hits Ebony communities

An outbreak of Cholera has reported uncovered in some Ebonyi State communities, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Daniel Umezurike, has confirmed.

The affected communities are Onweonwiya and Mgbalukwu communities in Izzi local government areas of the state.

Umezurike who confirmed this on telephone conversation with News Express in Abakaliki on Tuesday.

The community people have called for the government intervention to save their lives following the outbreak of the pandemic.

But Umezurike said he visited the community today after being reached with the report on recent development.

He said that all the affected persons with the disease have been taken to the General Hospital, Iboko, Izzi Council headquarters for treatment.

He stated that as at now, no record of death associated with the cholera outbreak in the area.

The Commissioner also assured the government’s intervention in taking care of the affected people, urging all and sundry to take cover as effort has been put in place to douse the tension in some communities in the state.
