64 cultists arrested as locally made gun, wrap of Indian hemp recovered in Delta

Sixty- four cultists suspected to be involved in the recent cult killings in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State have been nabbed in their different hideout across the state capital, Asaba.

The suspects were said to have been apprehended at different uncompleted buildings, brothels in the area.

Spokesman to the Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe said that the DPOS ‘A’ Division, ‘B’ Division and GRA Division all in Asaba carried out raids of suspects who were arrested and screened while those found wanting, were charged to court.

He disclosed that intensive patrol/ stop and search by the DPO GRA Division Asaba also led to the recovery of one locally made cut- to – size single barrel gun, one battle axe and twenty wraps of Indian hemp in a tricycle of suspected cultists who took to their heels on sighting the Police.

According to Edafe,” Intensive patrol/stop and search, by DPO GRA Division Asaba while on patrol with the Divisional patrol team behind NTA Asaba saw a tricycle rider with two occupants on sighting them jumped down and escaped into the bush abandoning the tricycle. The tricycle with reg. no ASB 144 WZ when searched, one (1) locally made cut-to-size single barrel gun, one (1) battle axe one (1) techno phone and twenty wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and other hard drugs were recovered”.

In a related development, Police operatives yesterday arrested two members of a notorious car-jacking gang in the Oghara axis of the state.

It was revealed by DSP Edafe Bright, that the first suspect; Boytie Samuel ‘m’ 21yrs of Oghara was intercepted at Koko junction after which he was taken to the station for interrogation.

The suspect on interrogation confessed himself and others at large to be motorcycles snatchers.

He then led the Police Operatives to Koko junction where two unregistered motorcycles, one big Elema generator, Nissan Primera with reg No BEN 564 LT all suspected stolen were recovered and another suspect, one Vero Amughoro ‘f’ 47yrs of Koko junction was also arrested.
