Akwa Ibom State Government is set to shut down all hotels in the state linked to cult activities.

Already, a joint monitoring team comprising of officials of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Security Agencies has been set-up by the State government for enforcement.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong disclosed this earlier today Thursday, July 15, in a press statement made available to News Express.

According to the statement, all hotels,  entertainment centres and other places linked to cult and criminal activities are to be shut down in the state by the orders of government.

This decision, the commissioner said, is informed by credible intelligence that hotel owners and proprietors of entertainment centers have given their premises to cult groups and other criminal gangs to use as their base.

“Members of the public, especially proprietors of hotels and places of entertainment should take note and act as appropriate to avoid unpleasant consequences,” the commissioner warned.
