Oyo OPC raises alarm over alleged plan by Wakili to unleash terror on Ibarapa during Eid-El-Fitri

The Oyo state chapter of the Oodua people’s Congress (OPC) led by Iba Are Gani Adams, the 15th Are Ona Kakanfo has raised an alarm over plot by Iskilu Wakili and his boys to unleash terror on the people of Ibarapa area of Oyo state on or before Eid-El-Fitri.
The Oyo State Coordinator of OPC, Comrade Rotimi Olumo stated this while speaking with journalists in Ibadan on Sunday.
Olumo said that he was with Are Ona Kakanfo, Iba Gani Adams, on Saturday when he received the information that Wakili and his boys are planning to attack residents of Igbo Ora, Idere, Tapa, Ayete, and Igangan during Ileya celebration.
He advised the residents of Ibarapa to be extra vigilant at any of the praying ground.
Olumo said that the Are Ona Kakanfo has directed him and all members of OPC in Ibarapa land to ensure that the plans by Wakili and his boys to cause to unleash attack in the region are void.
“We have been crying out over the killings of innocent citizens in ibarapa land for a very long time. It will be recalled that Iba Gani Adams raised the issue of kishi forest before the issue got out of hands. Any information released by Are Ona Kakanfo should be taken serious by the government and members of the public”.
He also commended the Are ona Kakanfo for giving members of OPC in ibarapa land five new boxers motorcycle.
Olumo said OPC in Oyo state is battle ready to curtail the excess of Wakili and his boys in Ibarapa area. He maintained that OPC has put a lot of strategies in place in ensuring that there is peace in ibarapa region of Oyo state.
Olumo expressed sadness that three of their members, who captured Wakili were detained before they were released.
“And that is the main reason we are alerting on the Nigeria Police force and order relevant security agencies about the plans by Wakili and his boys to attack igangan again.”
Olumo wondered why Wakili and his boys is interested in the killings and kidnappings of innocent citizens in Oyo state, noting that OPC will not fold their arms and allow Wakili and his boys to be causing crisis in ibarapa region.
He appealed to Oyo state government to intensify efforts in curbing the excesses of some unscrupulous herdsmen, who are bent on casing brigandage, kidnapping and killings in ibarapa land.
The Oyo OPC coordinator also called on all the traditional ruler in ibarapa land to come out in clear terms to resist the activities of Fulani herdsmen and Wakili in their domain. (Sunday Independent)
