Armed bandits have kidnapped the Emir of Kajuru and 14 of his family members in an attack on his palace in Kajuru community, Kajuru Local Government Area, in the wee hours of today, Sunday, July 11, 2021.

The 85 year old second class Emir was kidnapped alongside three women, two of his grandchildren, three of his palace aides and six others.

The kidnapped Emir’s cabinet member who pleaded for anonymity, confirmed on Sunday that the attack occurred around 12:30 a.m.

“Just a day before the incident, the Emir had summoned a security meeting to alert us about a potential ploy to kidnap him but unfortunately, the security agents didn’t take any action,” the cabinet member said.

Both Samuel Aruwan, Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, and police spokesperson did not respond to calls and text messages as at the time of filing this report.
