Kidnappers abduct PDP chieftain in Edo, demand N20m ransom

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Ugbo Iyiriaro, has been reportedly kidnapped along Benin-Abraka Road.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, between Ugo and Ugboko community, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State.

It was gathered that the victim left Benin, on Tuesday, to attend to an urgent issue in his community before the journey was aborted halfway by the kidnappers.

According to a source who pleaded anonymity, Iyiriaro was driving to his community Umoghunokhua with a plan of returning to Benin shortly thereafter when he was intercepted.

It was further gathered that the kidnappers had already made contact with the family of the victim, demanding N20 million ransom.

When contacted on phone, Edo Police Command Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Bello Kontongs did not answer the several calls put across his cell phone at the time of filing this report.
