Fulani leader abducted in Oyo
A prominent Fulani leader, Alhaji Usmanu Sule, better known as Jamhuro Lamba, has been kidnapped in Lalate, Ibarapa Local Government Area of Oyo State.
A resident said the 90-year-old man was abducted when he went to the village to check his relations.
“The gunmen stormed the village and took him away. He was the only man on ground when they struck. He was with some women and children at that time.
Abubukar Malam Boggol, a resident of Lamba in Kwara State stated that Jamhuro Usmanu Sule was the head of all Jamhuro in Kwara.
He said the title ‘Jamhuro’ was given to the Fulani leader, who has stayed in Yorubaland for a very long period.
“Just as we have Hardo as Sarkin Fulani who were from the North, Jamhuro are also Sarkin Fulani settlers in the South West and Kwara State,” he said.
Boggol added that the victim’s sons were not at home when the gunmen struck.
When contacted for reaction, DSP Oseifo Adewale, Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo, asked our reporter to send him a text message because he was in a meeting.
However, he has neither replied the text message nor answered other calls since then.
