A Member of the Nigerian House of Representatives, Yakubu Barde, says bandits who abducted health personnel two months ago plan to retain them permanently to offer “healthcare services” in their camps.

“The two nurses abducted two months ago from General Hospital, Idon, Kajuru Local Government Area; part of South Kaduna, are retained by the bandits in their camps to treat wounded members.

“I am referring to the case of these two nurses from General Hospital Idon under the Federal Constituency I represent,” Mr Barde, who represents Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, told our Correspondents on phone on Wednesday.

He gave the names of the nurses that were abducted at General Hospital Idon as Grace Zigwai Nkut and Afiniki Bako.

“They were abducted on 21st April, 2021,” he stated.

The lawmaker said the abduction of the nurses was part of the new strategy by the bandits.

“The families of the two abducted nurses informed me that the bandits are not willing to release the nurses after being in captive for two months. The bandits told the families that they plan to keep them to serve as their medical personnel that will be treating their injured members,” he added.
