APGA moves to present ex-Fayemi’s aide as candidate in Ekiti
Ahead of the June 18, 2022 governorship election in Ekiti state, the leadership of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has reached out to the former Special Adviser to Governor Kayode Fayemi on Internal Security, Mr Israel Adesokan with a view of making him the party’s governorship candidate.
The State chairman of the party, Mr Rufus Alabi who led some of the party executives to Adesokan’s Iyin Ekiti home, at the weekend said Adesokan has what it takes to boost the chances of the party in the forthcoming election, adding that the former security aide to the Governor has consistently demonstrated traits of a trustworthy leader hence the decision of the party to approach him.
He said, “This meeting is for the progress of our party. Though Adesokan has not told us he has an interest in contesting for any position, we want to woo him to join our party. Our decision to approach him is based on the fact that he is a grassroots mobiliser and a man who is loved by all. Having him in APGA will boost our chances and help us coast home to victory in the coming elections.”
In his response, Adesokan thanked the party leaders for their visit but stated that he remained a bonafide member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His words: “I was informed that someone wanted to see me but to my surprise, I saw all of you. Let me say that I belong to APC as a bonafide member and committed to the success of the present administration. I have the conviction to participate actively in politics and to help the poor and the physically challenged. We will do all to ensure that the less privileged benefit from the government,” he said.
