Igboho accuses SSS of planting arms in his house, says ‘I use charms, not guns’

 Yoruba Nation agitator and activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a Sunday Igboho, has denied the statement by the Department of State Security (DSS), that arms and ammunition were found in his house in Soka, Ibadan Oyo state, during a raid on Thursday, by operatives of DSS and police. Igboho said the security agents who invaded his house without a search warrant lied that assorted guns, charms, arms and ammunition recovered in his house.

He said planted the ammunition were either planted in his house by security operatives or harvested from their amoury to frame him up for crime.

The DSS on Thursday during a press briefing in Abuja, explained why its operatives raided Igboho’s residence and stated that assortment of weapons, arms and ammunition, including charm jackets were found in Igboho’s house during their raid.

Spokesman for DSS, Dr Peter Afunaya, during a press briefing on joint security operation, said the raid was based on intelligence that he (Igboho) had stockpiled arms in his house. Afunaya listed the items found to include: Seven (7) AK-47 assault rifles; Three (3) Pump Action guns; Thirty (30) fully charged AK-47 magazines; Five Thousand (5,000) rounds of 7.62mm ammunition; Five (5) Cutlasses,  One (1) Jack knife, One (1) Pen KnifeTwo (2) Pistol holsters; One (1) binoculars, a wallet containing  Five (5) US Dollars in one (1) Dollar denomination; local and international driver’s licences in his name, ATM Cards, a German residence permit No. YO2N6K1NY bearing his name; Two (2) whistles; Fifty (5) Cartridges; Eighteen (18) Walkie-Talkies, Three Voodoo charm jackets/traditional body armour; Two (2) Laptops (One (1) Toshiba and One (1) Compaq); and his International Passport and those of many others (as displayed here). He said further exploitation and forensic analysis are ongoing.

He said during the early morning raid, the operatives came under heavy gun attack by nine men, suspected to be IGBOHO’s guards.

But speaking through his media aide Olayomi Koiki in a press statement titled, “My Persecution By Buhari Regime: Setting The Records Straight”, Igboho said the operatives that stormed his residence destroyed his properties, killed persons and stole valuables and money, adding it was coming “after several unsuccessful attempts to link me to any crime, the Buhari regime desperately opt to forcefully silence me, so that the criminal herdsmen, who enjoys government’s sympathy, protection and immunity, can easily outrun the Southwest”.

Refuting the DSS’ statement on items recovered from his house, Igboho they are not his.

“Nigerians and the international community should please be aware that the security operatives that invaded my home either planted the ammunitions being paraded in the media in my home or harvest them from their armoury to frame me. The arms paraded are not mine, they are government magic. I protect myself with traditional powers, not with guns,” he stated.

Igboho said that he protects himself with charms. “I protect myself with traditional powers, not with guns,” he stated. He accused the government of framing him up. According to him, “Federal government framed me up and the sequence of events brings the truth bare”.

The Yoruba Nation campaigner said he was unjustly persecuted by the Federal Government for defending his people and community.

He also said he was not invited for questioning/investigation at any government facility before the invasion of his residence.
