Fraud: Niger Govt dismisses medical doctor, 45 others

Niger state government has sacked a Medical Doctor, five accountants and seven hundred and fifty eight civil servants following their indictment in fraudulent activities and violation of extant rules.

Chairman Niger State Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Shehu Yusuf Galadima who disclosed this to journalists yesterday in Minna also said that a total of five thousand, two hundred and fifty eight (5,258) civil servants have been retired in the past three years.

“We discovered that 46 personnels violated the extant rules and after thorough investigations we dismissed them. Among them are; Medical Doctor, 5 accountants, 31 Pensions Board staff, 2 Health workers and 4 ICT Personnel,” he said.

Yusuf Galadima further hinted that, “Also, three hundred and eighty (380) civil servants were forcefully retired due to their involvement in fraudulent acts of alteration of date of births or their first appointments.

“328 personnel were also dismissed over Certificate racketeering after the commission undertook a forensic examination of all certificates they pledged during interview and the institutions they purported to have attended declared their claims as forgeries,” he added.

The Chairman of the state Civil Service Commission also told journalists that, “Since the year 2018, a total of 5, 258 civil servants who have completed the mandatory 35 years of Service or have attained the age of 60 have retired voluntarily”.

The Commission chairman was however quick to add that plans are on to undertake massive recruitment. “The Commission will employ 2, 000 graduates and redeploy skilled workers who are in wrong Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to their respectful fields”.

A total of 1,133 people have been screened and employed into critical areas of the state including; Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, and the State Fire Service, the Commission chairman said.
