Though there are widespread speculations that Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir may dump the PDP for the APC ahead of the 2023 general election which he has severally denied, over 3000 APC, PRP and NNPP members in Toro LGA of the state have dumped the party and joined the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
The decampees said that though most of them joined the APC because of President Muhammadu Buhari, their aim of supporting the party has failed as they do not have any significant impact of the government in their areas.
Speaking through Bala Ahmad Zalau, the decampees said that all their elected representatives at both national and state levels have performed below par as they have refused to influence any development to the area stressing that they even hardly come to the Constituency to meet the people.
Bala Ahmad Zalau then said that “the best option for them is to leave the APC, PRP and NNPP in order to team up with the PDP led by the Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir in its resolve to develop the state infrastructure and build up the people.”
Bauchi South Zonal Vice Chairman of PDP, Idris Hassan Zaranda was the personality who received the decampees into the PDP telling them that they made the right choice of coming back home.
He assured the new PDP members that they will be well accommodated in the party saying that, “as members of the PDP, as soon as all formalities are concluded, you will be full integrated into the party.”
Chairman of PDP in Toro LGA, Idris Hassan Zaranda said that it was the good leadership quality of the PDP in the state that is making people dump their political parties to join the PDP stressing that the PDP in Bauchi State has become a shining example of a political party with a vision for the people.
The welcoming of the decampees was held in Lame where all the 3000 politicians, men, women and youths were formally accepted into the PDP with a call on them to mobilize others to join the PDP in order to make the LGA a PDP area considering the various ongoing development projects in the are by the PDP led administration.
The feat achieved by the PDP was facilitated by an astute young politician in the area, Hon Hamza Sa’idu Jama’a who is said to be a politically influencer and mobilizer.
The decampees are made up of 286 people from Rahama, 262 from Rishi, 329 from Tama, 187 people from Zalau, 469 people from Womu North 684 from Lame and 517 from Womu South.
On the widespread rumour of the defection of the Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir to the APC, the PDP in Bauchi state has dismissed it as mere speculation and the figment of the imagination of those spreading the rumour which holds no water.
The PDP through its Publicity Secretary, Yayanuwa Zainabari told our Correspondent through the phone that, “as far as the PDP in Bauchi State is concerned, the speculation remains speculation because there was never a time the governor muted such idea not to talk of taking a decision along that line.”
Yayanuwa Zainabari added that “you are a witness to how members of other political parties are trooping to join the PDP because of the act of good governance by the governor under the umbrella of the PDP, why will such a person who has won the heart of the people of the state just decide to dump them, no, it is not true.”
He, however, said that “yes, as humans, we have things that influence our decision, as of today, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir is a member of the PDP, today and tomorrow all belong to God. I don’t know what will happen tomorrow but for now, the PDP is intact with the Governor as the leader.”
The Publicity Secretary then called on the people of Bauchi State to disregard the speculation and continue to support the administration as it strives to take development to every settlement across the state saying,” as a party, we are not doubting the efforts of the governor in moving Bauchi State to a better state than how it was in 2019.” (Nigerian Tribune)
