A hearing notice has been served on President Muhammadu Buhari by the ECOWAS Court of Justice following his ban on Twitter.

This came after the Federal Government was sued by the Socio-Economic Rights And Accountability Project (SERAP) and 176 other Nigerians over the alleged unlawful suspension of the social media platform.

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) is counsel for the 177 plaintiffs in the suit No ECW/CCJ/APP/23/21 to be heard on June 22.

“Having been duly served, President Buhari should immediately rescind the suspension of Twitter, pending the hearing of the application, for the sake of the integrity and sanctity of the court, the rule of law and Nigeria’s leadership role in the ECOWAS sub-region,” the group stated.
