#TwitterBan: Twitter to work to restore access in Nigeria
By PAUL OMOROGBE
Following the ban on Twitter operations in Nigeria on Friday by the Federal Government, the microblogging site said it will work to restore access.
In a tweet via @policy (Twitter Public Policy), Twitter stated that: “We are deeply concerned by the blocking of Twitter in Nigeria. Access to the free and #OpenInternet is an essential human right in modern society.
“We will work to restore access for all those in Nigeria who rely on Twitter to communicate and connect with the world.”
Recall that the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced the ban on Twitter in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday.
The action came a day after the microblogging site deleted President Muhammadu Buhari’s controversial post referencing the Nigerian civil war. (Saturday Tribune)
