Residents run to safety as cultists kill man in Osun

A middle-aged man simply identified as Shogo was on Friday killed by suspected cultists at Oke-Ijetu area of Osogbo, Osun State.

The incident which happened in the early hours of the day, according to an eyewitness account, saw the perpetrators of the inhuman act, smashed the deceased head with a big stone.

The eyewitness who identified himself as Adebisi Adewusi, explained that, the cultists who were armed with cutlasses, guns, clubs, cudgels, clubs, knives and other dangerous weapons, went wild when they saw Shogo at a barbing shop in the area on this ill-fated day

They, however, chased him out of the barber’s shop, molested him and inflicted injuries on his body before being shot dead.

Due to the incident, inhabitants of the place ran for cover and heavy traffic jams were recorded before the evildoers vacated the scene.

Commenting on the incident the Police Public Relations Officer for Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident.

The PPRO said the situation has been brought under control and assured the residents of their safety.
