FUOYE suspends Registrar over alleged gross misconduct

The Governing Council of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti has suspended Registrar of the university, Olatunbosun Odusanya.
A statement by the the Special Adviser on Media Matters to the Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Wole Balogun, said the decision was taken by the Dr. Mohammed Yahuza-led Governing Council.
It disclosed the suspension was conveyed to the embattled Registrar in a letter dated April, 20, 2021 and signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina.
According to the statement, Odusanya was asked to go on suspension to allow for indept investigation into allegations of gross misconduct leveled against him over alleged irregularities in the recent appointments by the institution.
The statement added the Council appointed Mr. Mufutau Ibrahim to act as the registrar of the university pending the expiration of the Odusanya’s suspension in order not to create administrative vacuum.
Odusanya’s letter of suspension, which was entitled: ‘Suspension From the University” , reads in part: “You would please note that consequent upon the consideratiom of the report of the Committee on the review of appointments made in the University from August 1, 2020 to February, 2021 by Council, you were recently queried via our memo Ref. No: FUOYE/VC/CD/007 dated 6th April, 2021, for act of misconduct in the appointments.
“The staff Disciplinary Committee which was constituted by Council has considered your written representation and found it unacceptable to exculpate you from the act of misconduct.
“Consequently, you are directed to handover all the University property in your possession to the Officer next in rank to you immediately. Your Staff Identity Card should be submitted to the Personnel Affairs Officer. You are also advised to stay away from the premises of the University, except otherwise expressed in writing,” it said.
When contacted, the embattled Registrar confirmed the suspension, saying he has received the letter .
“I have been given the letter. I received it today when I got to the office and I have no further comment on this issue”, Odusanya said. (The Nation)
