Two kidnap victims killed, six others rescued in Delta

Unidentified men suspected to be kidnappers on Monday killed a driver and a passenger of an 18- seater Sienna Bus Okutolo Warri-Sapele road, Delta State.

Trouble started on 3rd April 2021, when the hoodlums armed with AK 47 rifles at Okutolo Warri-Sapele road, attacked a Toyota Sienna Bus with REG.NO. BWR 301 SU.

Also, six passengers abducted by bandits have been successfully rescued by a combine team of police, military and local vigilante in Orerokpe Community, Okpe local government area of Delta State.

A press statement on April 5th 2021, by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright, disclosed that the hoodlums shot and injured the driver and a woman but dragged other passengers into the bush.

He said that the passenger and a driver that suffered from bullet wounds from kidnappers have been confirmed dead upon their arrival at an undisclosed hospital

According to Edafe, ” The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Orerokpe Division, SP Ojo Oluwole who swiftly mobilized patrol teams, assisted by military patrol team to the scene and they went after the kidnappers into the forest.

Said he: “The men did not relent as they gave the kidnappers a hot chase, the hoodlums who could no longer withstand the pressure quickly abandon the kidnapped victims and fled.

“The patrol teams successfully rescued the six kidnapped passengers which includes Edoma Rita, Evelyn Chinwekwe, Believe Omoruyi, Linus Kojo, Idolo Christina ‘and Ojemudia Esther.” (Daily Independent)
