Appeal Court dismisses APC suit, upholds ruling in Obaseki’s favour
Minister inspects project, pledge improved extension services in Edo
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, yesterday, upheld the Federal High Court ruling, which held that the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki did not forge his certificates with which he contested the 2020 governorship election.
Among members of the Appeal Court panel, which delivered the judgment in the case marked: CA/ABJ/CV/71/2021 between the All Progressive Congress (APC) and Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki are justices Stephen Adah and Mohammed Mustapha.
In its judgment, the court ruled that the lower court did not make mistakes and that the plaintiff and witnesses did not pin the first respondent to have forged his certificate.
It held that the judgment of the lower court was apt and clear, noting that the appellant performed abysmally and had not proved any case.
MEANWHILE, Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mustapha Shehuri, yesterday, inspected the newly built one-stop extension delivery centre in Iguobazuwa, Ovia South West Council of Edo State.
Speaking during the inspection of the project in Iguobazuwa, Shehuri said President Muhammadu Buhari was committed to boosting agriculture through improved extension services in the country.
Shehuri noted that the centre would serve as a training facility for farmers and extension agents in the state.
Programme Manager of Edo Agricultural Development Programme (ADP), Peter Aikhuomobhogbe, disclosed that arrangements have been concluded to move the ADP zonal office to the centre.
He said the centre houses an agro-shop for sale of fertilisers, chemicals and seedlings, adding that the plots of land located at the centre would be used for farm demonstrations.
