Orlu: Sad that Buhari is using military to fight innocent civilians – Ezeife
By JOY ANIGBOGU, Lagos
Dr Chukwuemaka Ezeife, former governor of Anambra State, has said that it is disappointing that President Muhammadu Buhari is using the military to fight innocent civilians in Orlu and some parts of the South East.
The former governor regretted that the President had chosen to use the airforce and land troops to fight civilians, who according to him were not bandits, kidnappers, Boko Haram or terrorists. He queried if there are two laws in the country, one for Ndigbo and the other for the rest of the country..
Ezeife in a chat with DAILY INDEPENDENT on Thursday said that the action of the President is disappointing. He maintained that the Federal Government was tactically helping the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to grow.
Adding, “President Buhari is using Airforce, land troops to fight civilians who are not the bandits, Boko Haram, kidnappers or any of the violent people. Do we have two laws,? one for Ndigbo and the other for the rest of the country.
“It should also interest you to know that it is the Federal Government that is really helping IPOB to grow. There is a referendum in the South East now of Biafra or no Biafra. It is heartbreaking that you have the Airforce, Army, all of them fighting against our people. I have not much to say except that the Federal Government is planning the disintegration of Nigeria.”
The elder statesman said that the implication of the action of the Federal Government, is the reality of a country planning to segregate against some other citizens and lamented that the military should not be used to fight local wars.
He stressed that the country was already challenged by serious security issues and the federal government had not been able to effectively use the military to curb that, rather the military was deployed to molest innocent civilians in the Eastern part of the country.
He said that everyone knew the danger of a country fighting against itself and the leadership of the country should know how best to ensure that peace is given a chance in a country like Nigeria. (Daily Independent)
