Hope for tortured Onitsha kids as commissioner visits hospital

There were rays of hope for the three kids allegedly tortured by an 80-year old woman and her daughter in Nkwelle-Ezunaka, Onitsha, Anambra state following a visit by the Commissioner of Women and Children Affairs, Lady Mrs Ndidi Mezue.
The victims, Jeff, Ikechukwu and Gift were reportedly rescued naked with tied hands and legs from one Rejoice Raymond and her aged mother Chidi Felicia Nwafor last week during a raid by policemen attached to 3-3 Police station in the area.
Speaking at the special ward of the hospital were the victims were receiving treatment, the Commissioner expressed shock at the level of inhuman treatment the children were subjected to, as they had scars, with fresh bruises and infliction meted on them.
She pledged accelerated hearing on the case with a view of prosecuting culprits, assuring government commitment to fighting child abuses in the state through the ministry.
On his part, the doctor on call appreciated the Commissioner on the extensive and prompt medical attention given to the kids since their admission.
He said, “The kids are beginning to show sign of life except for the girl among them, gift, who sustained fracture in her arm but will be taken care of.” (The Nation)
