Governor Makinde

Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday vowed to unseat the governor of the state, Seyi Makinde, in 2023.

Stakeholders of the party made the declaration at a meeting held on Thursday in Ibadan, the state capital.

The stakeholders, who took turns to express the party’s readiness to return to power in 2023, noted that it is important to remain untied and put behind the grievances that led to their defeat in the last elections.

In a communiqué signed by Alhaji Adesina Alabi, they agreed to chart a new course and mobilise for unity, harmony and cooperation to reposition the party.

To achieve their desire of taking over the state in 2023, the stakeholders re-echoed the need for oneness and togetherness.

“Stakeholders welcome briefing from the national headquarters of the APC ahead of the forthcoming membership registration and revalidation exercise which they promised to accord all necessary support to ensure that a good population of existing and new members are captured in the exercise,” it said.

In his welcome address, the acting secretary of the party in the state, Hon. Mojeed Olaoya, said the stakeholders’ meeting became pertinent to address some of the issues that led to the loss of the party in the 2019 governorship election in the state.  (Daily Trust)
