Protest rocks Ekiti Assembly over workers’ sack
Organised labour in Ekiti State Tuesday protested against the sack of 21 workers by the state’s House of Assembly.
The protesters, who disrupted activities at the assembly Tuesday, said their colleagues were “unjustly dismissed” from the service of the House.
The Secretary of the Ekiti State Joint Negotiating Council, Com. Gbenga Olowoyo, said it was wrong for the Commission to have speedily sent the names of the affected workers to Accountant General to stop their salaries, while negotiation lasted.
But a statement by the chairman of the state Assembly Commission, Taiwo Olatunbosun Tuesday said the new report of the staff audit was part of the efforts to reorganise the legislative service commission for effective and quality service delivery. (Daily Trust)
