Suspected Herdsmen Kill PDP Councillorship candidate in Delta

A Peoples Democratic Party Councillorship candidate for the forthcoming March 6, 2021 Local Government Council elections in Delta State, Hon. Elliot Ofa, has been murdered by suspected Fulani Herdsmen.

It was gathered that Hon. Eliot Ofs who clinched the PDP councillorship ticket for Ward 8 was murdered on his way back from Asaba on Monday while returning from the DSIEC screening exercise for candidates representing different political parties in the March 6 elections.

Ofa, a young and vibrant politician in the state was until his death the immediate past supervisor for Environment in Ethiope West LGA and Manager of Oghara Hotels.

According to sources, during the attack, Ofa was with three other councillorship candidates who went for the same exercise, saying that he died from shots of suspected herdsmen.

The sources stated further that Ofa died on the spot, while two councillorship candidates were kidnapped and one identified as Hon Allen of Ward 11, was said to have escaped.

Eliot, a younger brother of Dr. Henry Ofa, a PDP Chieftain in the state will be greatly missed, as some persons have already described his demise as pathetic.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the story, saying Hon. Ofa was killed in Edo state while returning from Asaba. (Daily Independent)
