Obigbo Killings: Nothing justifies military killing Nigerians — Ezeife
Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife
Reflecting on the current chaos and alleged killings of members of Obigbo community by the military, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, former governor of Anambra State, has said that nothing justified the military killing people at random.
The former governor said that it was unfortunate that some statements from radio Biafra could be annoying.
He maintained that extra-judiciary killing was not the best approach to handle lawlessness of any form.
While appealing for peace in Obigbo, Ezeife appealed to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State to work for peace in the community as the chief security officer of Rivers State.
He stressed that it was wrong for anybody to have ordered the military to go to a community and begin to kill unarmed citizens.
Ezeife said on Tuesday that there should be sanctity of human lives, pointing out that wanton killing as witnessed in the country shouldn’t be seen in a sane clime.
He said that there was no amount of provocation that would call for the military to unleash havoc on a community, to the extent of killing unarmed citizens. (Independent)
