Police nab a native doctor for chopping off son’s fingers, chaining him for 4 weeks

A 48-year-old native doctor has been arrested by police operatives attached to Nimo Division in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State for allegedly chopping off the fingers of his biological son and chaining him inside the room for four weeks.

It was gathered that the suspect, Gregory Enwaeso, an indigene of Egbengwu village allegedly conspired with his son, Chinonso Enwaeso, aged 20, and chopped off all the fingers of his biological son, 22-year-old Abuchi Enwaeso, with a machete.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Mohammed, said the victim has been rushed to Enigwu-Ukwu General Hospital for treatment.

He said: “On October 15, 2020, at about 1pm, Police operatives attached to Nimo Division in collaboration with local vigilante group arrested one Gregory Enwaeso ‘m’ aged 48 years of Egbengwu village Nimo in Njikoka LGA of Anambra State.

“Suspect allegedly conspired with his Son one Chinonso Enwaeso ‘m’ aged 20 years of same address (also arrested) and chopped off all the fingers of his biological son one Abuchi Enwaeso ‘m’ aged 22years of same address using a machete.

“The Suspects equally chained the victim and abandoned him for four weeks leaving him severe pain.

“Meanwhile, police detectives visited the scene of crime, photographed the victim and rushed him to General hospital Enugu-ukwu for medical attention.”

Mohammed said that the machete allegedly used in perpetrating the act was recovered as exhibit add that suspects who voluntarily confessed to the dastardly act claimed that the victim absconded with the sum of N150,000 proceeds realised by the father after throwing a party following a breakthrough in his business.

According to him, the state Commissioner of Police, CP John Abang, has ordered for the case to be transferred to the State CID Awka for discreet investigation.
