Former WNBA All-Star Cappie Pondexter has reportedly been found safe after she was went missing following a release from police custody. Pondexter was reportedly arrested for battery Tuesday, according to Madeline Kenny of the Chicago Sun Times.
Police were alerted that Pondexter hadn’t been heard from in days, and she was declared a missing person. It was eventually discovered that Pondexter did not have her identification, and refused to give her name to police, causing her to be booked as “Jane Doe,” according to TMZ. Because of that, police filed a missing person’s report Wednesday night.
On Thursday evening, she was found safe and her “friends/family are helping her get the help she needs,” according to Lyndsey D’Arcangelo.
Details of the alleged incident that led to Pondexter’s arrest are scarce, according to TMZ.
Pondexter, 37, spent 13 seasons in the WNBA. She played for five teams, including the Phoenix Mercury, New York Liberty, Chicago Sky, Los Angeles Sparks and Indiana Fever.
