One killed, retired police inspector injured in Akwa Ibom Cult clash

One man merely recognised as ‘Udo Mma’ has been reportedly killed throughout a recent conflict between rival cult teams Debam and Iceland which were terrorising Inen village in Oruk Anam native authorities space of Akwa Ibom State over the weekend.

An eyewitness recognised as Mr Jim stated the retired policeman was frightened over the wanton killings perpetrated by the rival cult teams in his village and determined to strategy and beg them to cease the heinous act.

“For three weeks Inspector Udoh pleaded with them to cease the killings, that he can’t run away from his village as a result of his wellbeing circumstances. But as a substitute of the cultists to hearken to his pleas, they determined to maim him in his compound.

Another eyewitness who pleaded anonymity stated the cultists left Inen village and moved in bike convoy to the following village chanting conflict songs forcing most of the residents to flee into the bush and by no means returned until the next morning.

The Police Public Relations Officer Mr Odiko MacDon, disclosed that three individuals have been arrested in reference to the incident. He added that Commissioner of Police, Mr Andrew Amiengheme, has, nevertheless, ordered for an in-depth investigation to unravel the reason for cult clashes and killings in the neighbourhood.
