Sokoto deputy governor defends N718m carriageway to father’s palace
The Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Manir Dan’iya, has defended the ongoing N781 million 1.530 meters dual carriageway to the palace of the Sarkin Yamman Kware, Alhaji Muhammadu Dan’iya.
Alhaji Muhammadu Dan’iya, who is the deputy governor’s father, was among the newly appointed district heads appointed by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
The projects were funded by the Ministry for Local Government and Community Development which the deputy governor is overseeing.
But the spokesman of the deputy governor, Aminu Abdullahi Abubakar, explained that the project was awarded long before the appointment of the deputy governor’s father as district head.
He said the project was part of the five-kilometre roads in all the 23 local government areas initiated by past administrations and as such was a selective project. (Daily Trust)
