Anambra Govt. trains 2,000 head teachers ahead of school re-opening

Mr Patrick Ugboaja, the Chairman, Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, said that at least 2,000 Head Teachers in Primary and Junior Secondary Schools had been trained preparatory to the reopening of schools in the state.

Ugboaja said this on Tuesday in Awka, when the state House of Assembly Committee on Economic Planning, Sustainable Development Goals and Foreign Donor visited the board.

He said that the training was organised in six centres across the three senatorial districts of the state.

He said that it was designed to prepare the teachers and principals to oversee the re-opening of over 1,000 schools in the state already equipped with COVID-19 materials.

Ugboaja said that the board had provided sanitisers, soaps and hand washing buckets with taps for the smooth re-opening of primary and junior secondary schools in the state.

He said that the board complied with all the directives handed down by the Nigeria Centre For Disease and Control, government and Ministry of Basic Education for the reopening of schools.

Earlier, Mr Ebele Ejiofor, the Chairman of the committee, commended the board for its preparations, in line with the NCDC protocol for the reopening of schools.

He said that the committee was happy with the board over its prudent execution of the projects funded by the Universal Basic Education Commission in the state.

Ejiofor said that the committee would soon embark on the verification of the projects, including classroom blocks, amongst others.
