The Governing Board of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has approved the promotion of 74 senior officers.

The affected officers include four Deputy Directors, who were elevated to the position of Directors.

The Nation learnt on Sunday that 23 Assistant Directors were promoted to the rank of Deputy Directors, while 48 officers on Grade Level 14 were moved to the rank of Assistant Directors.

The agency’s Governing Board is headed by Maimuna Yaya Abubakar.

A statement by NIPOST’s General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mr. Franklin Alao, said the affected officers participated in the recent promotion examinations conducted for eligible officers in the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.

Congratulating the officers, the Postmaster General of the Federation and NIPOST Chief Executive, Dr. Ismail Adebayo Adewusi, urged them to use their wealth of experiences in contributing to the progress and development of the organisation.

NIPOST, in conjunction with the Bangladesh High Commission in Nigeria, has issued a set of commemorative postage stamp in honour of the Bangladesh father of nationhood, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a statesman and an iconic politician of his time.

At the launch of the stamp at the Bangladesh High Commission in Abuja, Dr. Adewusi said the commemorative stamp was a gesture of Nigeria in strengthening the cordial relationship between the two countries.

The stamp, which comes in a single denomination of N100, is available at all post offices across Nigeria and at the Nigerian Philatelic Bureau at the Marina, Lagos.

Also, the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has endorsed the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), EMS/Parcel as one of the official couriers of the commission.

A statement at the weekend in Abuja by Alao said: “Following NIPOST’s success in the interview conducted by CAC for prospective courier companies, we are pleased to announce the endorsement and accreditation of EMS/Parcel as one of the official couriers of the commission.

“Business transactions will begin on September 1, 2020.” (The Nation)
