Civil Society Organisation, Defence for National Security, has alleged plot by some Nigerians to destabilise the national security, because of their hatred for President Muhammadu Buhari. It urged Nigerians not abuse the freedom of expression to pull down the country.

The Coordinator of the group, Comrade Joe Mesele, who made this call on Friday during a solidarity march at the Unity Fountain Abuja, urged Nigerians to be patriotic and desist from reckless comments for the sake of peace and development of Nigeria.

According to Mesele, the Muhammadu Buhari Administration is winning the war against insecurity and all is needed is for Nigerias to accord the security agencies due support.

He also said they the service chiefs are not the problem even if they are replaced as security is a collective effort.

He said: “They just want to destabilise our national security and consequently destroy Nigeria because of their hatred for Buhari. To these groups of people we want to remind them that Mr. President’s tenure is just three years but Nigeria remains till God calls. So will you because of three years pull down the nation on all of us?

“We have heard some Governors and individuals making reckless statements, some even treasonable. Yes we know and support freedom of expression which is paramount but will you in the name of freedom of expression destroy the nation that gave you an identity?”

He said that instead of castigating Buhari and security agents, those Nigerians should beam their searchlight on are the double-dealing political, religious and ethnic jingoists who are hell bent in destroying “the fabric of our national security in order to advance their selfish interests”.

“We ask that you cease and desist for the sake of peace and development of Nigeria,” he added.

According Mesele, the group is adding their voice on the ongoing debate to strengthen the morale of our security agents and the overall national security architecture.

He acknowledged that “Nigeria is passing through a trying time that calls for men of goodwill to stand to be counted. And it so happened that God made it possible for President Muhammadu Buhari to be at the helm at this point in time.

“To this end, what is required of Nigerians as patriotic citizens is to give Mr. President all the support he needs not because you like him but for the sake of our nation and future of our children. Therefore, there is no better time for this clarion call to all including opposition politicians, religious and socio-cultural organisations especially those who have made it their past time to denigrate and jeorpadise our national security in order to aim a cheap short at the Presidency.”

On their part, Mesele called on government and the security chiefs to ensure there is justice by the objective assessment of every issue that might brew discontent within the ranks to ensure that enemies of the state will not infiltrate our cherished institution.
