SSANIP vows to resist reopening of Polytechnics unless
The Senior Staff Associa¬tion of Nigerian Polytech¬nics (SSANIP), South-West Zone, has rejected the planned resumption of full academic activities in poly-technics unless sufficient provisions are made for it by the government.
The staff association made this known via a com¬munique issued at the end of SSANIP Zone ‘F’ Execu¬tive Council Meeting held in Offa, Kwara State and released early this week.
The meeting was presid¬ed over by Ayodeji Bankole, the National Deputy Pres-ident/Zonal Co-ordinator and his Secretary, Sunday Akomolafe, as well as Phil¬ip Adebanjo Ogunshola, SSANIP National Presi¬dent.
“The Council resolved to reject any proposed re¬sumption of full academic activities until sufficient resources have been made available to meet the mini¬mum guidelines of the Ni¬gerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC)”, the com¬munique explained.
SSANIP bemoaned the rate of community trans¬missions of COVID-19 and called on the Federal Gov¬ernment to put in place sufficient structural and complementary facilities that are at present not avail¬able in schools. (Text, excluding headline, courtesy Daily Independent)
