Ogun highway robbery gang terrorizing commuters on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway nabbed in Lokoja

 Operatives of the Ogun State Police ‘Special An¬ti-Robbery Squads (SARS) have arrested two members of a robbery gang terrorizing commuters on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The police said the two suspects, Yinusa Isah and Ibrahim Muhammed, who were on the wanted list were traced to Lokoja in Kogi State by CSP Tija¬ni Muhammed led SARS who took over the case from Owode Egba division where three members of the gang were earlier ar¬rested.

The Police Public Rela¬tions in Ogun, DSP Abim¬bola Oyeyemi, said the gang had on July 17, 2020, blocked the Alapako end of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and forcefully stopped a Mazda commercial bus with two occupants and subsequently dispossessed the occupants of N545,000 cash and a itel phone after beating them mercilessly with cutlass.

A distress call was subse¬quently made to DPO Owode Egba Division who raced to the scene with his men and was able to apprehend three members of the gang.

The case was trans¬ferred to SARS where the suspects made useful state¬ments that led the opera-tives to Lokoja where the remaining two members of the gang were apprehended on July 24, 2020.  (Daily Independent)
