Two Thousand two hundred and twenty-nine delegates will on Thursday decide the fate of Governor Godwin Obaseki and other aspirants in their bid to clinch the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) ticket ahead of the September 19, 2020 governorship election.

The national publicity secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, told journalists that the materials for the election are already in Benin City as the members of the committee led by Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed.

Ologbondiyan also said that event which will hold at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium will follow the Covid-19 protocol.

Other aspirants screened by the party include Kenneth Imasuagbon, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama and Gideon Ikhine.

However, party sources said that Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama and Gideon Ikhine have withdrawn from the race following the intervention of party leaders for the favoured aspirant, Godwin Obaseki.

The source who would not want to be mentioned said Kenneth Imasuagbon is still being engaged to pave way for a lone horse race in the primaries. (Nigerian Tribune)
