Covid-19: Nigerian man who survived deadly virus shares experience

A Nigerian man with the Facebook name Ogbeni Olawale Dawodu Snr on Monday, June 8, narrated how he survived coronavirus. He said his intense struggle with the virus started on Monday, May 18, after he was rushed to the Asokoro Special Treatment Clinic. The man added that he had to wait for some minutes for doctors, saying the wait may probably be to buy time for the doctors to get into their PPEs.

Olawale said that he was gasping for breath when he got in as the officials asked him if they should aide him with a wheelchair.

The Nigerian said the condition of the hospital was very clean and in a good state that one would think the place he was assigned was a hotel room.

As medical officials asked to take his details down, he was in a lot of pain and his head constantly spun around. The Covid-19 survivor said that the doctors were very proactive when he had his first three asthma attacks. As he defeated some health challenges, new ones came up. Olawale said the attacks he had could have easily led to death. “I never knew that I was in Intensive care for three days as this was going on. I was oscillating between here and the thereafter. “I woke up to the steady but grating sound coming from the patient monitor with my right thumb clasped to its reader and oxygen mask strapped to my face,” he spoke of the first three days at ICU.
