18 nurses test positive for coronavirus in Kano

The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives on Wednesday revealed that no fewer than 18 Nurses have tested positive to the coronavirus disease in Kano.

Ibrahim Maikarfi Muhammad, Chairman, Kano State chapter of the Association told newsmen in Kano that “86 samples of nurses were taken and results of 18 have indicated that they tested positive.”

Mr. Muhammad explained that 9 of them are from National Orthopedic Hospital, Dala 7 from Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital and 2 from state hospitals.

The Kano chapter of Nigeria Medical Association had equally confirmed yesterday that 34 of their members tested positive to COVID-19 in Kano.

Ibrahim Maikarfi Muhammad therefore appealed to the government to provide health professionals with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to enable them to discharge their mandate.

He said ‘our members needed to be protected as they are ready to support the fight against COVID-19, considering that we are in the fore front of the fight.” (Daily Independent)
