Gov. Simon Lalong

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has declared total lockdown of the state from midnight of Thursday, April 9 to 11p.m. to  Wednesday, April 15, 2020. He threatened to close down any place of worship that violates the order.

During the lockdown, the state government will carry out total fumigation of the 17 councils of the state, Lalong told journalists on Monday, stressing that if there was no total lockdown, it would be difficult to carry out the exercise and enhance the preventive measures already put in place.

His words, “The lockdown is very important. The fact that Plateau has not recorded any case of the pandemic does not mean that we are free from the virus.

“The treatment of the pandemic is very expensive. It is better to enhance the preventive measures. Apart from fumigating the state, during this period, there will be general testing.” He added that there would be no movement of any kind except for staff on essentially duty.  (The Guardian)
