Chadian troops arrive to fight Boko Haram, Nigerian soldiers jubilate
Nigerian soldiers posted to Cross-Kauwa, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, heaved a big sigh of relief when Chadian troops recently arrived the area.
The Nigerian troops, whose brief is to fight Boko Haram terrorists, felt so relieved that they broke into a celebration, singing and dancing and exclaiming that the Chadian soldiers had arrived to deal ruthlessly with Boko Haram terrorists.
In a video clip of the show of shame in the possession of News Express, Chadian troops could be seen advancing confidently to confront the insurgents – hailed loudly by their Nigerian counterparts. (Please see video on our Home Page and in youtube.com/News Express Nigeria TV).
The Nigerian Army did not respond to News Express request for a comment on the conduct of the soldiers.
A worried Nigerian security analyst who saw the video expressed regret that “well trained and well-equipped” Nigerian soldiers expected to take on Boko Haram terrorists were openly celebrating the arrival of the Chadians. “It is a very sad descent,” he said.
Continuing, the source said: “The Chadians can overrun the whole of Lake Chad at will without any resistance from the Nigerian Army.
“The danger of this is that they can even hold on to Nigerian territories by force and we will have no option but to negotiate their exit. We have no capacity to evict them when we can’t evict even Boko Haram.”
