Niger Republic closes borders, airports to prevent coronavirus

President Muhammadu Issoufou of Niger Republic, yesterday, announced the closure of borders, airports and schools among others as preventative measures against the spread of coronavirus.

Niger shares borders with Nigeria, Chad, Mali, Burkina Faso, Algeria and Libya in North Africa.

Issoufou, in statewide radio and television broadcast, described COVID-19 as a “terrible invisible, devastating enemy” of the world, stressing that the measures were meant to contain further outbreaks. (The Guardian)
