Breaking: Controversy trails shooting of Journalist allegedly by Police during Shiite protest in Abuja

Alex Ogbu, a journalist with Regent Africa Times, a magazine was allegedly shot dead by a detachment of policemen in Abuja drafted to quell a protest by members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria.
ABUJAPEOPLE gathered that Ogbu was a passerby when he was shot on the head during the Shiite protest on Tuesday around the Berger area of the city.
Two other persons sustained gunshot wounds during the protest that ended in chaos.
Curiously, when contacted, the FCT police claimed that Ogbu was struck on his head by a stone and not a bullet a situation that led to his death.
Spokesperson for the FCT Police, Anjuguri Manzal, when contacted by journalists, refused to disclose the identity of the deceased.
Meanwhile, Manzal had on Tuesday issued a statement admitting that their men shot a passerby during the protest and vowed to investigate the incident, ABUJPEOPLE gathered.
The management of Regent Africa Times said that its legal team had been briefed on the development and would soon come up with a position on the matter.
