Police Inspector guns down corporal, injures another and commits suicide in Abuja

The FCT police community has been thrown into mourning following Saturday’s shooting incidence in a police formation in Dutse area of Abuja.
ABUJAPEOPLE learnt that a police Inspector, identified as John Markus was said to have allegedly shot and killed his colleague and later committed suicide.
The incidence which occurred in the early hours of Saturday at the Dutse Police Divisional Headquarters also left another police officer injured.
The Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Bala Ciroma, confirmed this to Channels Television via a telephone interview.
It was learnt that the incidence was as a result of a Police Corporal identified as Mathew Akubo who felt Markus who was on duty as a station guard had over stepped his bounds when he fired a round of ammunition into the air.
Markus who felt slighted turned to his subordinate and shot him in the head.
Hearing the weapon discharge, a Superintendent of Police Abdullahi Ovanu came out from the office to inquire what happened but the inspector also shot him in the arm.
A few minutes after the incident, Markus realising the gravity of his offence and not prepared to face the outcome, shot himself through his mouth.
The remains of the inspector and the corporal have been deposited at the mortuary in Kubwa General Hospital while the superintendent of police was taken to the hospital for treatment.
